India is unique. The food of every state, every city and every street here tells a story in itself. Whenever I go to visit a new city, the first thing I notice is the food there. Food not only gives taste but also makes one feel connected to the culture and people of that place.
Today I am sharing with you a list of 10 Indian dishes that I have tried myself and which I feel like eating again and again. Some of these are the flavours of home cooking and some are the magic of street food. I am also sharing their easy recipe steps so that you can make them at home.
1. Paneer Butter Masala

Paneer butter masala is the pride of my every party. Whenever guests come, this is the first dish that goes on their plate.
Recipe
- Lightly fry onion, tomato, ginger-garlic and make puree.
- Add some oil to the butter and cook the puree in it.
- Add red chili powder, turmeric, coriander and cook well.
- Add cashew paste to make the gravy creamy.
- Add Paneer pieces and cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Add cream and butter on top.
If you have warm and soft butter naan with your meal, the fun doubles.
2. Chole Bhature

If you have breakfast in the streets of Delhi and the aroma of hot chole bhature comes from the front, then your heart starts fluttering.
Recipe
- Soak the chickpeas overnight and boil them in a pressure cooker.
- Add onion, tomato, ginger-garlic and chana masala and cook chole.
- To make Bhatura, add curd and some baking soda to the flour and knead the dough.
- Fry the golden bhaturas in hot oil.
The pleasure of eating increases when onions and pickles are also served along with it.
3. Masala Dosa

This South Indian flavour has won hearts all over India. Crispy dosa and potato masala inside – wow!
Recipe
- Ferment the rice and urad dal batter overnight.
- Spread the dosa in a circular shape on the pan.
- Boil potatoes and add onion, curry leaves and turmeric to it.
- Place the potato masala in the centre of the dosa and roll.
It is incomplete without coconut chutney and sambar.
4. Rajma rice

Rajma chawal reminds me of home. This is what I miss the most when I am away.
Recipe
- Soak kidney beans overnight and boil them in a pressure cooker.
- Make gravy by adding onion, tomato, ginger-garlic and spices.
- Add boiled kidney beans and cook well.
- Serve with hot Basmati rice.
There is a different pleasure in eating this dish while sitting on the terrace during the rainy season.
5. Biryani

Biryani is not just food, it is an emotion. No one can forget the aromatic taste of Hyderabadi biryani.
Recipe
- Half cook the basmati rice.
- Marinate mutton or chicken in curd and spices.
- Add rice and marinated meat to the pot, layer by layer.
- Pour saffron milk and ghee on top.
- Cook on dum.
The real taste of biryani comes with raita and salad.
6. Aloo Paratha

A winter morning, hot potato paratha in hand and white butter on top – what can one say!
Recipe
- Boil potatoes and add onion, green chillies, coriander and spices to it.
- Fill the wheat dough with stuffing and roll it.
- Bake it in ghee or butter.
Its taste doubles with curd and pickle.
7. Samosa

Evening tea is incomplete without samosas. My memories are related to my childhood when my mother used to feed me samosas as soon as I returned from school.
Recipe
- Prepare the stuffing of potatoes, peas and spices.
- Make thin dough balls from flour and fill the stuffing in it.
- Give it a triangular shape and fry it in oil.
Tamarind and green chutney are a must.
8. Dal Makhani

Dal Makhani coming from the kitchen of Punjab touches every heart.
Recipe
- Soak whole urad and rajma overnight and cook it.
- Prepare masala of onion, tomato, ginger-garlic.
- Mix the lentils and cook on low flame with butter and cream.
Serve it with hot tandoori roti or naan.
9. Golgappas (Panipuri)

Eating golgappas is fun only with friends. The competition of who will eat the most is the most fun.
Recipe
- Make puris from semolina and flour and fry them.
- Make stuffing of potatoes, peas and spices.
- Make sweet and sour tamarind water and spicy water with green chillies.
Once you eat it you won’t be able to stop.
10. Carrot Pudding

Carrot halwa completes the sweetness of winter.
Recipe
- Grate carrots and cook them in milk.
- Add sugar and ghee to it.
- Add dry fruits and cardamom.
- Cook on low flame.
Top the hot halwa with cashews and pistachios, it tastes simply heavenly.
